Laureli Scribner NP

Laureli has been practicing healthcare since 1982, specializing in rural emergency medicine. Originally from Santa Monica, she and her husband lived in many places due to his Military career. Since moving to New Mexico she transitioned into Occupational Medicine and Primary Care. Occupational Healthcare allows her to help people get to work and make their lives better. Now that she has settled in New Mexico, Laureli enjoys the southwest and the year round activities it has to offer.

Dr. Alfred (Fred) Emmel

Dr. Alfred (Fred) Emmel MD MPH is a Board Certified Occupational, Aerospace, and Emergency Medicine physician with over 42 years’ experience. Dr. Emmel has trained and worked throughout the US and overseas – most recently employed with Concentra Health System, Presbyterian Health System, Sandia National Laboratories, Exxon-Mobil Corporation, and American Airlines in senior clinical and management positions. He is a retired Colonel, Senior Flight Surgeon, United States Air Force with 32 years’ service, and Legion of Merit recipient. He is a certified Medical Review Officer, Independent Medical Examiner, and DoD Public Health Emergency Officer. Academic appointments and activities have included that with Tufts University School of Medicine, Wright State University School of Medicine, Ajou University (S. Korea), and guest lecturer for University of New Mexico Department of Preventive Medicine.

Andre Montoya-Barthelemy

Andre Montoya-Barthelemy, MD MPH is a native of New Mexico and physician with 7 years of experience in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He graduated from Valley High School, UNM, then the Tulane University School of Medicine in 2013 before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota for post-graduate training at Hennepin County Medical Center and the HealthPartners Clinics. After graduation he continued with HealthPartners Occ Med as a clinical physician, assistant residency director, and consultant medical director for General Mills, Xcel Energy, and the Minnesota Department of Corrections. At the University of Minnesota, his public health thesis explored the health effects of federal workplace protections, work for which he was recruited to chair a presidential task force examining hazards of correctional settings for the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). He is so happy to be back in the New Mexico sunshine, and eager to support the health of New Mexico workers through the Duke City Cares Clinics.

Pamela Phillips FNP

Pamela Phillips FNP – Pamela has been a resident of Albuquerque for over forty years and has been in the medical profession in the New Mexico community for thirty years, working in various inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at the bedside and in supervisory roles at the University of New Mexico Hospital, Presbyterian Healthcare System, Lovelace Healthcare System, St, Francis Healthcare System, and Fresenius Dialysis Services. She obtained her Associate Degree in nursing from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (formerly TVI, now CNM), her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of New Mexico and her Master’s Degree in Nursing, FamilyNurse Practitioner focus, from the University of St. Francis. During her residency clinical for her Master’s degree she volunteered at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa to perform Covid screening and administer immunizations. She spent the last two years traveling across country to assist with medical needs in national community healthcare systems during the pandemic. As a result of her traveling journeys to assist healthcare systems during the pandemic, she enjoyed seeing various cultures across the U.S. and added seeing all the contiguous states in leisure travel on to her bucket list. After years of bedside nursing and viewing several colleagues develop work related injuries, she developed an interest in occupational medicine, and had clinical exposure during her Residential Clinical Rotation at the University of St. Francis. She is looking forward to assisting you with your Occupational Healthcare needs at Duke City Occupational Medicine.

Tym Candelaria

Tym Candelaria is a Certified Medical Assistant with over 12 years’ experience in the medical field. Tym received his Medical Assistant Certificate with honors from Apollo College in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2019. Tym has over 10 years’ experience in Occupational Medicine, working both clinical and operations. He is also registered with the FMCSA to assist DOT certified providers in completing DOT exams and proper reporting of exams. Tym is the Manager of the Occupational Medicine program for Duke City Urgent Care and has many years experience managing high paced occupational medical facilities.

Dr. Kevin Kirkpatrick

Dr. Kevin Kirkpatrick is a board certified emergency physician with over 24 years of experience since graduating from the UNM Med School and Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX. Originally from Oklahoma, he grew up in Santa Fe and considers New Mexico his home. He is proud to have served in the NM Air National Guard. As an IFR rated private pilot and physician he has a full understanding of the operational and medical issues pertinent to aviation and has substantial experience in aviation medicine as the medical director and a flight physician for AirCARE1 International for 14 years. Kevin became an AME and ATCS examiner for the FAA in 2019 to serve pilots and air traffic controllers.

Steven Cardenas

Steven Cardenas is a Physician Assistant who graduated from the USC School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program in Los Angeles in 1983. He has 15 years experience as an occupational medicine provider. He is also a Nationally Registered DOT Examiner. He relocated to New Mexico in 2001 from California. He also worked for 7 years at the University of New Mexico Emergency/Level 1 Trauma Center as an emergency medicine provider.

Kelly Spring

Kelly Spring, Director of Operations for Medic Buddy Mobile Medical Care, is a Physician Assistant with a background in Emergency Medicine. A transplant from Denver, CO, Kelly spent the first several years of her PA career working in rural Emergency Departments in New Mexico. Kelly started at Duke City Urgent Care, working to rapidly expand the Provider Program and embark on the development and implementation of Medic Buddy Mobile Medical Care. Kelly most enjoys sharing her passion about Medic Buddy with patients and community members and genuinely believes in the value and vision it provides to the community. When away from work, you will find Kelly doing yoga, mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, golfing, camping, or travelling the world!
